The goal of training is to improve one's capability, capacity and performance in a certain skill area. Traditionally, the recipients of training can be as few as one or as many as 1,000 or more. Obviously, the more students in the audience the less interactive the training can be and the less behavior-changing the outcome. Typcially, training includes an instructor or skilled leader who provides or disseminates information to an audience of learners, occasionally providing opportunities for audience participation during the course of the training session. Regardless of the genre, many organizations find group training to be the most cost-effective way to offer skill-building and skill-development opportunities to members of their organizations.
At Couragio Consulting, we offer customized group training sessions that include an individual coaching component, designed to meet and exceed the identified needs and goals of the client organization. Our clients tell us that they find the best training experience to be one that has a maximum of 8-10 students in a multi-day session for learning the "what, why and how" of effective presentation and networking skills.
Our most popular training model includes a group one-day where students learn the basic tenets, followed by one hour of individual coaching on improving the skill development opportunities identified during the first day of training. The program concludes with a final day-long class session during which students have the opportunity to practice, hone and demonstrate the skills they have learned during the first day-long class and during the one-hour individual coaching session. This model requires participants to only be in class for 2 full days, with a one-hour commitment during the second day.
Although this process of guided self-discovery is difficult and exposing at first, the ultimate goal is to help participants identify areas of potential improvement, and then implement the steps necessary to improve their skills. Participants find our training challenging, yet highly effective and rewarding, both personally and professionally.
